About Our Residential Trips
				The school residential weeks are
bi-annual events with the whole school participating and are not
only enormous fun for the pupils but hugely rewarding.
During the past years the school
has decamped and visited centres in the Isle of Wight and Dorset
using the expertise of specialist Activity Centres that cater so
well for schools. The trips are planned during the autumn term
and usually take place in the week before the Bank Holiday in
				May. These residential
weeks are a wonderful learning opportunity for our pupils, not
only through the activities that challenge and extend our pupils
physically but, perhaps more importantly in fostering and
				developing their social communication skills.
For some of our pupils this can
be their first time away from their home and parents and so many
of the pupils flourish when meeting the challenges of personal
organisation, sharing a chalet and living and working within a
group. It is these key skills of working together, communicating
and problem solving that are so important for our pupils and the
residential week provides a fun packed context to this work. |
