About Horse Riding at The Diamond Riding
Centre
The Link
has had a long association with The Diamond Riding Centre in
Carshalton and our pupils have been making use of the centre and
its resources for many years.
The Diamond Centre for Disabled Riders is a registered charity,
which provides facilities that benefit disabled children and
adults by having regular contact with horses. The Diamond Centre
is a unique establishment for riding for the disabled and is
known and respected world-wide. It is the only Centre of its
kind in the London Region specialising in all fields of riding
for the disabled including; dressage, carriage driving, vaulting
and hippotherapy.
Our pupils,
where parents wish, have lessons on Tuesdays and pupils may also
join a suitable class after school hours including evenings, or
ride on a Saturday. Indeed there is a group of our parents who
do take up these lessons and who meet regularly at The Centre.
The structure of the lessons is geared to the needs and
abilities of the pupils. It is now widely recognised that riding
develops people both physically and mentally and the experience
of riding and vaulting provides our pupils with the chance to be
independent, a sense of achievement and – just as important,
gives pleasure and satisfaction.
