About Counselling at The Link
Counselling is viewed as part of a life long process of gaining
self awareness. All pupils will meet the school's counsellor
in their first term at the school, although only some will be
offered regular sessions. In practice these would usually be
pupils having difficulty in coping with particular behavioural,
social or emotional problems. For all pupils offered
counselling the intention is to support (whether with the
counsellor, music or dance therapist) their development and
enable them to live in a more resourceful and satisfying way.
It aims to strengthen their ability to take advantage of the
educational opportunities given at school and the social and
leisure activities in their local community.
The
school's counsellor has a broad role in overseeing pastoral care
and with an assistant, supports class teachers where necessary
in their pastoral role. Every Tuesday a group of pupils attend
Waddon Youth Club to participate in a variety of activities.
A
newsletter is sent to past and present pupils each term.
